Our Story

Oakland, CA

How It Started

De La Creamery was born in 2020 to provide small batch ice cream with creative flavors, inspired by personal Mexican and traditional Californian experiences, using simple and fresh ingredients. Our products are made from common items that can be found in Mexican kitchens.

We are currently a pop-up, with a portable set up, traveling our way around the Bay Area and collaborating with our community as we go. Most often, you can find us in Oakland on the weekends.

We do not have our own shop and make our products at an approved commercial kitchen. Please support us while we are at events, so one day, we can have our own spot to welcome you every day!

We are the happiest while meeting new friends and spreading the joy of De La Creamery.

Meet the Owner, Stephanie

Stephanie is a self-taught ice cream maker. She started making ice cream from her Oakland home in 2019 after receiving an ice cream machine from her partner on Christmas. Her desire for comfort deepened during the pandemic and she then developed her recipes from scratch, inspired by her Mexican roots.

After sharing batches of horchata ice cream to her friends and family, she knew she had something that needed to be shared with the larger community. Her love for ice cream and passion for her culture has been her motivation.

Stephanie identifies as a Chicana, being raised in Southern California. While half of her family’s history dates back to Los Angeles for multi generations, her paternal grandparents are from Coahuila & Aguascalientes, Mexico. De La Creamery honors her roots and is named after her family’s name, De La Cruz.

De La Creamery is dedicated to community
